Toronto Forklift Instructor Training - Forklift Instructor training certification is recommended for forklift operators who want to become instructors. To be able to qualify for forklift instructor training, operators should be able to prove they have a high level of knowledge about forklift machines and have good lift truck driving skills. Instructor training usually is held at an equipment sales facility or at the campus of a community college, junior college, or technical or vocational school. Forklift manufacturing businesses sometimes offer hands-on, train the trainer, practical courses.

Whether offered in a classroom environment or at a manufacturing company facility, registering for the program would involve paying a tuition fee, and buying books, manuals or other materials. Course length differs depending on the program. Participants normally should have satisfactory test scores, participation and demonstration throughout the course to qualify for trainer certification.

It is assumed that the trainee taking the instructor program would have prior experience using forklifts. The subjects of ethics, teaching techniques, curriculum design and safety issues will be the main focus throughout the instructor training course. Participants would learn how to demonstrate to their students various aspects of forklift use, like navigating the lift truck in narrow isles or stacking and moving materials. People participating will know how to assess student's written tests and demonstrations of their lift truck operating skills. Some self-study of the machinery and guidebooks is needed. Trainers will be expected to make their own curriculum, that meets regulation guidelines in terms of topics presented, like Safety and Operation. Like for instance, the topic of Safety must include an understanding of how to identify possible hazards. The topic of Operation includes instruction regarding maneuvering and steering, connecting and utilizing and instruments and controls of the fork.
